PETRONAS LNG Ltd now offers commercial Gassing Up and Cooling Down (GUCD) services at the Liquefied Natural Gas Regasification Terminal Pengerang (RGTP). The terminal is owned by Pengerang LNG2, which is a joint venture among PETRONAS Gas Berhad, Dialog LNG Sdn Bhd, and Permodalan Darul Ta’Zim Sdn Bhd.
GUCD is a service required for LNG vessels, usually after dry dock, before the next cargo loading. The process displaces inert gas from the storage tanks and cools it to a cryogenic temperature. The service was recently completed on the PETRONAS vessel Puteri Zamrud Satu after it left dry dock in Pasir Gudang Johor.
The terminal is strategically located along the Straits of Johor and is Malaysia’s second regasification terminal. Built to serve the Pengerang Integrated Complex, it features two storage tanks with a total 400,000 cubic meter capacity. PETRONAS signed a Marine Services Agreement with Johor Port Berhad for the provision of marine services which include the utilization of GUCD services from the terminal. The collaboration will encourage more vessels to use the services at the terminal due to its proximity to shipyards in Malaysia and Singapore.
