Mozambique LNG1 Company Pte. Ltd. has secured another Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA), this time with Bharat Gas Resources Ltd. Mozambique LNG1 is a joint venture between Anadarko Petroleum Corporation and Mozambique Area 1 co-venturers. The SPA a 15-year span for 1 million tons per annum (mtpa).
Bharat Gas Resources Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (BPCL), which is an existing upstream co-venturer in the Mozambique LNG1 project. According to Mitch Ingram, Anadarko Executive Vice President, International, Deepwater & Exploration, this new agreement brings the project’s total SPAs to 8.5 mtpa. Ingram also notes that BPCL’s interest in the Mozambique project signals India’s continued growth in the LNG market.
