Gasum’s Coralius LNG bunkering vessel completed 100 operations in just a year and half. Coralius is expected to increase its number of operations in the coming year due to the efficient process. The expected growth highlights the growing interest in LNG bunkering, which serves vessels that can’t get to port or visit a terminal for fuel.
Coralius can hold up to 5,800 M3 of LNG and services the North Sea and Skagerrak region.
The Vice President, natural gas and LNG at Gasum, Kimmo Rahkamo noted that Coralius’ success allows Gasum to be flexible. Rahkamo said, “With Coralius, we have been able to perform bunkering to different types of vessels, which is quite unique and demands us to be prepared for all types of vessels. The bunkering operations are swift and safe, and we have received great feedback from our customers.”
Utilizing LNG contributes to the transition to environmentally friendly fuels in the shipping industry. LNG reduces CO2 emissions by 20% compared to traditional fuel and complies with current and future regulations for sulphur oxides and nitrogen oxides.
