Excelerate and YPF announced an initial agreement for the charter of a liquid natural gas (LNG) carrier to export LNG globally from the TANGO FLNG, located in Bahía Blanca.
The final agreement is expected to be executed in the next several days, with the goal of operations in early September.
“We continue progressing in our ambition to add value to Argentine natural gas and to export surpluses during those months of low local consumption, to fully extract the potential as producer and exporter of Argentine natural gas,” said Marcos Browne, Executive Vice President of Gas and Energy of YPF.
The TANGO FLNG will process natural gas primarily from the Vaca Muerta and be transported by the LNG carrier EXCALIBUR, with a storage capacity of 138,000 m3. The operation of loading YPF’s product to the LNG carrier will take around 45 days.
Excelerate’s EXCALIBUR, one of the two ships that YPF will utilize, will service YPF until May 2020.
YPF became the first Argentine company to export LNG, with its first cargo in May.
