Novatek has produced a total of 1 trillion cubic meters of natural gas in cumulative production, including from its joint ventures and subsidiaries, since it started its natural gas field development program.
The company started producing natural gas in 1998 when it launched the first gas treatment unit at the East-Tarkosalinskoye field.
Novatek has since used new state-of-the-art technologies to develop deeper gas-condensate-bearing layers, such as drilling large diameter, long horizontal wells with multi-stage fracturing. The company expanded beyond providing gas to the Russian market when it launched the Yamal LNG project in 2017, becoming a global LNG player.
“Reaching cumulative natural gas volume of 1 trillion cubic meters is a significant milestone for the company,” noted Leonid Mikhelson, Novatek’s chairman of the management board.
