Burckhardt Compression is providing Laby compressors for a WinGD X-DF, two-stroke engine from Winterthur Gas & Diesel, to be installed on a 30,000 cubic meter LNG carrier operated by Knutsen OAS Shipping AS.
The compressors will be delivered to Hyundai Mipo Dockyard to be incorporated into the fuel gas supply system built by Wärtsilä Oil & Gas Solutions.
The engine allows both natural gas sourced from inevitable boil-off from LNG storage tanks, and marine diesel, to be used as fuel for ship propulsion. The fuel types can be switched during operation.
