Carnival will introduce new cruise ships across four of its international brands in 2020. The new vessels will be the Enchanted Princess for Princess Cruises, Iona for P&O Cruises in the UK, Mardi Gras for Carnival Cruise Lines in the US, and Costa Firenze for Italy’s Costa Cruises.
The Iona and the Mardi Gras will join Carnival Corporation’s “next-generation” ships, all powered by liquified natural gas (LNG). Carnival will have 11 of these ships operational by 2025, contributing to lower emissions and zero sulphur output.
Princess Cruises’ will launch the Enchanted Princess in June 2020 from Rome. The ship will feature two Sky Suites, offering 270-degree views and room enough for five guests each. Enchanted Princes is an OceanMedallion ship, offering wearable devices for guests and offering enhanced service and entertainment.
The Iona will join P&O’s fleet in May 2020, marking the brand’s first LNG-fueled vessel. The ship will include three-level atrium for panoramic views as well as the SkyDome on the top two floors. Additionally, the Iona will have 30 bars and restaurants, two infinity pools and will offer various spa treatments.
Mardi Gras is set to launch from Port Canaveral in November 2020. It will be North America’s first LNG-powered cruise line. Not only will this ship run on cleaner fuel, it will also include the Ultimate Playground, featuring the world’s first rollercoaster on a cruise liner.
Launching from China in October 2020, Costa Firenze is specifically designed for the Chinese market, including not only Italian dining and aesthetics, but also Chinese cuisine and karaoke.
