GTT and CHI (Cosco Shipping Heavy Industries) will continue to cooperate in the fields of newbuilding, maintaining, and retrofitting LNG carriers and LNG-fueled merchant ships, such as VLCCs, ULCVs and VLOCs, after renewing a cooperation agreement they previously signed in January 2018.
The agreement has already seen GTT qualify one of CHI Group’s shipyards, Cosco Zhoushan, as an approved repair shipyard. CHI has plans for a second shipyard to be qualified this year.
By continuing their collaboration, the two companies will strengthen their respective offers in the LNG market, with both groups seeing the fuel as a promising solution to reduce the environmental footprint of maritime transport in the face of stricter environmental regulations.
