Elenger now offers LNG bunkering services at the port of Hanko in Finland. So far, Elenger has bunkered UECC’s vessels, the Auto Energy and the Auto Eco which are the globe’s biggest short sea duel liquififed natural gas (LNG) vehicle vessels. The two sister ships transport vehicles from Europe to Russia and Finland.
According to Kalev Reiljan, member of Elenger’s board, “In addition to new passenger ships, new cargo vessels are changing to the LNG technology in larger and larger numbers. LNG will eventually replace diesel fuel among marine fuels, which will contribute to cleaner air and cleaner Baltic Sea.”
Going forward, Elenger will offer truck-to-ship bunkering every Friday. The LNG used in this bunkering service will come from NOVATEK’s LNG facility in Vysotsk, Russia. Additionally, Elenger now has nine semi-trailers to aid in the LNG shipping and bunkering services. By 2020 Damen will deliver an LNG bunkering vessel for Elenger to use in the Gulf of Finland.
