Höegh LNG’s Independence, a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) has completed required maintenance and technical inspection. The work was performed at the Port of Klaipėda by Klaipėdos Nafta (KN) and Höegh LNG.
Once the LNG tanks were warmed the inspections and maintenance began for the first time. The review of the hull, four LNG tanks, and regasification gear showed no major defects.
KN’s CEO said, “Now that we have completed technical maintenance, we are fully prepared to continue providing natural gas regasification and reloading services that meet the highest safety standards and fulfil the obligations to LNG terminal customers in a professional manner.”
There is no global standard for the FSRU inspections, and the work performed on the Independence will serve as a baseline for standards in other parts of the globe.
While the Independence was undergoing its mandatory five-year inspection, the Arctic Princess delivered 138,000 m3 PF LNG to the Port of Klaipėda, marking the Port’s 49th delivery since launching operations.
