Naturgy and Vallibria has agreed to open a refueling station that will service all vehicles in the Galicia region of Spain that are going to the north, France and further into Europe. The refueling station will be conveniently located close to where the Cantabrian corridor starts.
This station will be the fist of its kind in Galicia, offering both liquified natural gas (LNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) to the public. There will be two CNG pumps and one LNG pump in order to service both light and heavy trucks.
The development of this dual-fueling station is part of Naturgy’s broader initiative to promote cleaner energy options in the region. Construction is expected to begin in October 2019 and is expected to not only fill a current gap in the market, but also spur competition in transportation infrastructure in the area.
Natural gas is a cleaner alternative to traditional diesel fuel and is presently the only alternative for long-distance shipping. Natural gas reduces solid particle pollution to nearly zero and cuts nitrous oxide emissions by at least 85%. Further, natural-gas fueled vehicles generate less noise and vibration.
