French LNG engineering specialist GTT has acquired 100% of Iceland-based maritime energy monitoring and optimization system designer Marorka’s share capital. The company was purchased in cash from its former owners and management team – GTT’s financial structure will not be impacted by the deal.
Marorka’s products help ships reduce their environmental impact and have been installed on over 600 vessels. The company has 17 years of experience and specializes in Smart Shipping, a set of navigation services, operational vessel management, predictive maintenance, on-board energy management and fleet management for charterers, ship-owners and operators.
GTT pointed to the importance of using smart software technologies and operational data analysis alongside cleaner fuels, such as LNG, for the shipping industry to meet its environmental objectives.
Marorka’s current owners will manage the company in order to provide GTT with their expertise.
