MAN Energy Solutions’ marine liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel-gas-system manufacturer, Man Cyro, will supply a hybrid gas-battery propulsion system to Nordlaks, one of Norway’s largest aquaculture companies, for a live-fish carrier. The ship will be identical to a vessel ordered in the summer of 2018 by Nordlaks which was also powered by a MAN Cyro system.
The vessels will be designed by NSK in Norway and built at Tersan Shipyard in Turkey. This will be the fifth vessel since 2016 equipped with such a propulsion system.
Louise Andersson, Head of MAN Cryo, said, “Nordlaks’ interest in exploiting sustainable technology fits seamlessly with our ambition to become a leading supplier within sectors where there is a growing demand for LNG-fuelled solutions.”
The latest ship will be delivered in 2021. They are designed for operation at aquaculture facilities with exposed waters and have a capacity for transporting over 600 metric tons of fish.
Man Cyro will supply two 146 cubic meter LNG tanks, each with two redundant tank connecting spaces; two BS100-GR bunker stations; and two HEU 100 glycol-heat exchanger units.
