MAN Energy successfully commissioned three power plants in Indonesia, totaling 140 MW for Nusa Tenggara.
According to Götz Kassing, the Managing Director Indonesia at MAN Energy Solutions, “Our decentralized power plant solutions for reliably supplying energy to islands and remote regions have proven themselves many times. The dual-fuel engines used offer complete fuel flexibility, thereby ensuring the sustainability of the power plants, which can be operated with low-emission LNG at any time.”
MAN PrimeServ will be responsible for providing upkeep and operating the plants for the first five years. Along with the service hub, the three plants will employ 130 people, most of whom will be locals.
Starting in 2018, MAN has worked with the German-Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry to educate Indonesians in industrial mechanics. Two of the first 20 students will complete their practical module at MAN Energy in Indonesia.
To this point, MAN PrimeServ’s Vice President and Head of Service Agreements, Michael Filous commented, “Besides the energy supply, the economic opportunities of the local population are also an important concern on the islands. We are contributing in creating jobs and providing training.”
