Singapore LNG Corporation Pte Ltd (SLNG) is now able to handle small scale LNG operations at their terminal in Jurong Island. SLNG’s Secondary Jetty was modified to accommodate vessels with 2,000 m3 to 10,000 m3 of LNG capacity. The changes to the Secondary Jetty included equipment to secure smaller ships and the addition of a marine loading arm and gangway.
The small-scale LNG (SSLNG) capabilities are expected to provide more access to LNG for remote locations as well as fuel bunkering for ships near the Port of Singapore. Interim CEO and Vice President (Commercial) of SLNG, Sandeep Mahawar, mentioned the possibility of constructing a third jetty given expected SSLNG growth. Mahawar also stated, “We believe that there is good potential for the small-scale LNG market to flourish in this part of the world, and the timely completion of the SSLNG Facility is an important step forward in SLNG’s efforts to support this growth.”
