Imabari Shipbuilding Group’s Tadotsu Shipyard carried out work to install LNG fuel tanks on a next-generation environmentally friendly car carrier on 7-8 May.
The vessel uses a dual-fuel diesel engine (Mitsui MAN B&W ME-GI) and a fuel gas supply system (FGSS) from TGE Marine Gas Engineering of Mitsui E&S Group. The FGSS is made up of an independent type C LNG fuel tank, which allows for a higher design pressure compared to other types of LNG fuel tanks, and a high-pressure pump. The type C independent tank also means that vaporized gas can to be stored in the tank for a comparatively longer period of time.
Construction work on the vessel is currently ongoing and has an estimated delivery date within the 2020 fiscal year.
