Venture Global LNG has publicly stated their plan to expand its LNG business to 60 million tons per annum (MTPA). The uptick is attributed to growing customer demand. The growth will come from increased equipment supply from Baker Hughes, a GE company (BHGE).
Under the agreement BHGE will provide Venture Global’s export sites with modular liquification trains with power generation as well as electrical distribution products. The efficient and reliable setup will be implemented across Venture Global’s Calcasieu Pass, Plaquemines LNG, and various other expansion projects.
Joint CEOs Bob Pender and Make Sabel said, “With this expanded 60 MTPA commitment from BHGE, we can grow our business to meet the increasing demand for our low-cost LNG from our international customers.” They went on to say that mid-scale modular liquefaction will be the future of low-cost LNG.
The Calcasieu Pass development has been given all federal clearances and will begin exports in 2022 with agreements with BP, Shell, Galp, Edison S.p.A., Repsol and PGNiG. The Plaquemines project is awaiting final authorization from FERC and is expected to begin construction in 2019.
