Novatek-led Yamal LNG has reached a milestone of 30 million tons in LNG shipments since the start of the project when Train 1 entered service in December 2017. The 411th cargo was dispatched by the Arc7 ice-class tanker “Nikolay Yevgenov”.
Yamal LNG is currently operating three liquefaction trains of 5.5 million tons per annum (mtpa) each, with a cumulative capacity of 16.5 mtpa. In 2019, Yamal LNG produced 18.4 million tons of LNG, exceeding the plant’s design capacity by 1.9 million tons. Novatek is building the fourth liquefaction train, with a capacity of 900,000 tons per annum. This will bring total production capacity of the natural gas liquefaction plant to 17.4 mtpa utilizing the hydrocarbon resources of the South-Tambeyskoye field in the Russian Arctic.
Yamal LNG shareholders include Novatek (50.1%), Total (20%), CNPC (20%), and the Silk Road Fund (9.9%).
